Day 13 and 14

Day 13 was the day for each group to prepare their drama for the last day of camp. Throughout the camp we have gone through many bible stories and learnt lots of the meanings behind the stories. Today was the day to digest the stories and practise a drama. and here are the result on the Day 14.

Day 12

When we pray, we should listen to God.

Today workshop is to simulate listening to God's word. Each group was given a map and a set of questions and quizzes. The questions represent the word of God, the map represents God's guidance and the quizzes represent the hidden treasure of God.

So when we read the questions, we need to ponder the questions just like we need to ponder on the word of God. We can't just simply read the bible according to our preferences. We need to read step by step, chapter by chapter in order to understand more about God, so the map and the direction are both represent the right way of reading the bible and God will guide us through. The moment we are in the right footstep and understand what does the word trying to tell us, we will find the hidden treasure that God want us to receive, just like we figure out what are those treasures hidden in the quizzes.

Day 11

Budget planning

Each group were given a big fish, some cooking utensils and USD$3. Students need to prepare a with a dish. They can use the 3 dollars to go to the local market to buy oil, vegetables, fruits or any spices that they need. They need to spend wisely else they will be out of money. It's a good experience for them to plan with the limited money and try to bargain the price in the market.

Day 10

We praise the Lord for who He is.

God tells us about Himself through the Bible. We praise the Lord for God is Love, God is our rock and salvation, God is judge, God is everywhere, God is all knowing, God is our fortress, Lamb of God, etc... We can praise the Lord through various ways.

For today's workshop, we taught the students to praise the Lord through fruits decoration. Students were given various types of fruits and they were asked to use them to praise the Lord by decorate them with a theme. Example, if Light Green Group got the theme 'God is Judge'. They need express the idea of the theme and decorate the fruits to deliver a message of God is Judge. Some of the students performed well in this workshop, but most of the students need more practices in order to deliver the idea.

Day 9

God's creations

The lesson is about God's creations. In order to let the students to remember the lesson, we have made 10 types of activities such as"
God created air --- students were blindfolded to smell 10 different kinds of fruits, and then told us what each type was.
God created water --- With a thankful heart, students need to drink at least 10 liters of water per group.
God created sun, moon and stars --- students need to answer some questions about the planets and solar system. They also arranged the sequence of the planets in the solar system.
God created Vegetable --- Students were blinfolded and ate 10 different kinds of vegetables, then told us what they've eaten.
Etc....
The whole process of creation was devided into ten stations. Students enjoyed the process and had deeper impression on the creation process.

Day 8

God is our battle fighter.

In our daily life, God has given us many tasks. We need to pray and read the words of God to understand what are the tasks that we need to do day by day. There will be lots of challenges and difficulties. Therefore after prayer and surrender to the Lord, we must then work hard to claim the promises of God as God dislikes the lazy people.

Today's workshop is about battle games for the students to accomplish. We made 10 station games like, bicycle relay, bowling, football shooting, basketball shooting, eating competition, etc. Students need to work together as a team and work hard to win the games.

Day 7

We pray and walk in Faith.

In order to let the students understand how to walk in faith, we tried to make a simulation workshop for their prayer life we called The Faith Journey. As what God has said: we are all spiritually blind and deaf, therefore we don't know where we're going in our life.

As for the workshop, we blindfolded all the students and asked them to hold on to a rope. The blindfolds represent we are all blind in the spiritual world, and the rope represents our prayer to God. Since students were blindfolded all the way, each step that they've made needed faith. Even though we can't really see the future(blindfolded), but through prayer and the words of God (the rope), we walk step by step with our faith in Christ. We all knew that at the end, we will be prospered in the eyes of God, because we totally depend on Him as our Lord, just like we hold onto the rope and walk in faith.

Day 6

Day of Elijah.

Lesson about Elijah offered a burning sacrifice to show whose God is the real God. God Jehovah or Baal? In the past people offered sacrifice by burning their offering to God, and for today we give a living sacrifice to God. So in order to show our good living testimony, we had arranged the students and teachers to go to our neighbourhood to clean up the plastics rubbish on the street. They had collected thirty over bags of plastic items.

This rubbish collection activity drew attention in our neighbourhood. Some neighbour even took out their camera to snap this special moment. A long the way some students also received good feedback from the neighbourhood. May God opens the students' eyes to see what is the living sacrifice is all about.

Day 5

Today, we practiced LISTEN AND SPEAK TO GOD. We had students blindfolded and walked through the bricks without touching the floor. One of the student in the own team (like God), giving direction the blindfolded students, yet another student from opposing team tried to give wrong direction to make the blindfolded students failed (like a lot of people that give us different different opinion when we are in trouble). Teacher in the team became the helper, someone that send by God to help us / pick us up when we fall down. Enjoy the movie.

Day 4

Day 4 - One of the day that the students liked the most... That's treasure hunt + cooking... Last year we did BBQ with sweet potatoes (haha!) This year we asked them to prepare dessert (green beans soup or glutinuos rice soup)... Some teams were frustrated when they can't find the things on the list... But it ended up nicely with everyone enjoy the dessert that they cooked... Thank God for the wonderful weather... coz we had this activity outdoor...

Day 3

Team building games. Students are required to plan before playing the games. We can see the team spirit had been built up throughout the activities. Praise the Lord, although some girls complained about the minor bruises when they crawl through the sand area, but they still excited and continued doing it to earn marks for their teams.

Day 2

The day to sing new songs for God like King David did in the past. Each team was required to create a new song from Psalm 29. We were surprised that they were able to compose better songs than what we expected. Thanks God. Hopefully This activity can inspired them to create new songs for God. Here are some of the songs

HTC 2010 has started.... Day 1

Hello...

HTC 2010 has started for a week, so far 175 students registered themselves and the turning up are about 145 students. We have created different activities to suit to the sermon of the day for their workshop time. 1st day, they needed to create a flag, a sword, a shield and a spear. But most of the teams prepared more than what we required.
