Boys' Brigade Camp

Thanks to be our Father in heaven. Last month was an exciting month for BB's boys. We had conducted the 1st Boys' Brigade Camp for our boys. They were two officers from Singapore came to run the camp. The Camp's main purpose is to build up our boys to be a good servant leader, as Jesus Christ is also a servant leader. We had selected 28 boys out of 80 boys to join the camp. They enjoyed the camp very much.

We had our camp at COSI. COSI is the orphanage ran and supported by the Singapore Methodist Society. It is one of the misson works ministry just like our school as well in Cambodia.
During the camp, they were devided into four squads. Each squad contained 7 boys. They were different kinds of activities going on in the camp such as classroom lesson, CE, drill, tent making, teamwork games, served one another and served our neighbour. We give thanks to our God that through out the camp there were no serious injury. And we could notice that there was a great learning during the camp. We aslo give thanks to God that we were able to notice some good leaders among the boys. We hope God will continue to build them up through Boys' Brigade programs. Here are some of the pictures to share with you all.

Fire

This is the second time we grabbed the fire extinguishers and immediately rushed out of the school since these few month. The recent one happened yesterday....

Nearly 4:15pm, in the office, we heard the cries of girl... found out that our students' house is on fire. This family sent all 4 of their children to study in this school. While contacting the principal, we rushed out with another 2 teenagers stayed in school to their house.

On the way, stuck in the traffic jam, from far, we saw the thick smoke coming out from their house's direction. In my heart, Oh God, there must be a serious condition by looking at the smoke. Please Lord, send the rain now.... In Phnom Penh, we are having problem with water supplied for fire engines. There is not fire hydrant elsewhere and the fire engines have to go forth n back to refill the water. This caused delay to the rescueing process. Furthermore, most of the cambodia houses are connected so closed to each other, and made of wood... Lord, pls protect your children over there, protect their safety and their property....

When we reached their house, we have to parked the car at the main road (the road into that area was closed by police). Holding the fire extinguishers, we managed to get the motortaxi to drive us in.... looking at the fire, we found the fire extinguishers useless...

We have two student families there, one is four houses away from the house which was on fire now n separated by a small road, the other is on the same row, 3 houses away. The rest of the time, was packing and evacuating all the things in our students' house, including bed, clothes, furniture... wahtever that we can take away to their neighbour's house at the other side of the area. Running forth n back, feeling the heat of the fire, seeing firemen tried their best to stop the fire from spreading to the next house, looking at the thick smoke coming out from the house, heard people crying, help to spray water on the roof to reduce the heat....

Lastly, when the night came, the fire almost stopped in that house., didn't spread out to the neghbouring area. Oh, thank God. He didn't send the rain, but with another way, He spared His children's property there....

These two families stayed out of the house that night to safeguard on the remainding small fire in the burning house. But everyone seemed released and waiting to put the things back in their house on the next morning. We saw tears of joy from their eyes and the shout of praising god from their mouths. The house on fire is a warehouse selling gas and paint. Praise the Lord that He kept the fire in...

This is our first experience to be so closed to the fire... sk was even captured (for few seconds) in a local TV news snapshot (when he was spraying water on to the roof)...

Praise the Lord... We witness Your faithfulness to Your people, Lord!

Thanks for the wonderful journey back to Malaysia

Thank God for the wonderful journey back to Kuching, Penang, and dropped by Singapore. Although the journey was a bit tired as we needed to meet up a lot of people and settled a lot of documentation, but we did enjoy the time with our family and friends.
Thank God for helping us in a lot of documentation that we needed to complete during that period such as renewing passport, renewing driving liciense, income tax....
Thank God for preparing different people in our trip that such as Duan Yee family from Singapore, VIctoria, Chin Daw church's friends, a friend that help us to look for taxi in Penang, and our family members. May God bless them for being kind to us.
-----------------------------------------------------
Coming back to Phnom Penh, soaked in an extremely hot n dry season now. This period is the end of Hot season n the beginning of raining season... This year is much much hotter than before... my shirt got wet (by sweat) several times a day. Please pray that we are healthy to endure with the hot weather.
For the work, get into busyness again. Sk attended a short biblical course these few days (Wed and Thurs) in Methodist Bible School here. So bw chose to stay back n help in teaching his classes. Thank God that He gave enough wisdom and strength for her to conduct all the 4 classes for these few days.
As a result of the course, sk seems to gain some new insights about the relationship with God. Everyday, he came back and shared with bw. As we are going to complete our mission term next year. Pls pray for us that God opens our eyes and shows His plan for us for the next few years.
Thanks for be with us all these while. May God bless you n your family...

A week passed, the team went to Singapore finally came back to Phnom Penh safely. The two boys and the teachers all seems healthy and full of joy. This is an eye opening trip for them to know about the Boys' Brigade in Singapore. They had chance to participate in some programs and observed the operation of the BB there. They had opportunity to visit to MMS office and BB HQ too. Thanks for the Singapore team from Bedok Church in hosting them with love and patience. Thanks to some friends over there that volunteerly brought them out for a walk or some meals.
May God continue to equip the Cambodian BB team so that they will try their best to lead the BB in MSC to be closer to God's plan.

Follow-up:

Pray for SK

Dear PPs,

As involving in Boys' Brigade in the school, sk will lead a team to Singapore next week (17 March to 23 March) for a conference. This is the first time for him to lead a 'team' out of the country. Furthermore, we have another 3 teachers and 2 secondary students in that team, 4 of them have never traveled abroad before. Please pray for the team:

1. May God protect and smoothen their journey to Singapore and back to Cambodia.

2. May God protect their health as the Cambodian teachers and students might be able to adjust themselves to the food and the weather in Singapore.

3. May God grant sk wisdom to deal with any circumstances that might occur next week.

4. As the schedule for the conference is very tied, may God give them strength and energy to absorb and understand the lessons.

5. May God open their eyes to see the blessing and mercy of this opportunity granting to them.

Thanks for your support in prayers, we appreciate your participation in our work very much. May God bless you in your work and family.

BW's New Roles

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Hello from Cambodia.
May the Lord be with you in this new year.
Update for BW for Computer Course in school:

Since bw is working on the computer courses in school. Lately, we have added a few computer programs for different needs.

1st: Training for our school teacher on Microsoft office, excel, etc..
As the exam system in Cambodia is computerized now, all the exam papers need to be printed and no longer handwritten. We provide some basic training for our teachers.

2nd: Computer's club for Grade 8 to Grade 10.
Due to there are some upper Grade's students who are good in computer, this is to give them more opporunity to learn others program beside our school co-curriculum. We are specifically trained them in movie editing, as the future school movie might be able to be created by our students themselves.

3rd: Internet Access during school lunch break.
During this period of time, the upper grade's students always hang around at the cyber cafes nearby our school. This Internet Access facilities can attract them to stay back in school, rather than loiter out there. PTL, we have 10 computers that can online now.

Beside the computer programs, in this new school year, BW started to help in GB's programs on Saturdays morning 7am to 9am.
Prayer items:
1. May God give her wisdom and strength to manage all the computer programs.
2. BW is sick. She's having fever and cough. pray that God will heal her in His almighty way.
